Morrissey to play Broadway debut concert series at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre
The British music legend is scheduled play seven dates at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre from May 2 to 11, 2019.
Irish Blood, English Heart, Broadway-bound... Iconic British alternative-rock artist Morrissey is set to make his Broadway debut this coming May with a string of concerts on the Great White Way. There is a Light That Never Goes Out...on Broadway! will mark the Grammy-nominated singer's first residency on Broadway with dates currently scheduled at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on May 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, and 11.
The Broadway residency coincides with the upcoming release of Morrissey's next album, "California Son," set for a May 24 release date via Étienne Records/BMG. The concert series promises "an intimate yet exciting exploration of Morrissey's expansive career from his early days to his upcoming new record "California Son": a collection of 1960/70s classic covers".
Fans can expect to witness Morrissey's takes on iconic songs from the likes of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Dionne Warwick, as well as his renditions of songs from lesser known artists of that era, including early gay icon Jobriath and political activist Phil Ochs, and even collaborations with alt-rock royalty such as Green Day's Billy Joe Armstrong, Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste, Young the Giant's Sameer Gadhia, and LP.
Tickets for Morrissey on Broadway will be available soon.
