'Paradise Square' to offer rush and lottery tickets

The new musical begins performances March 15.

This is your ticket to paradise! The Broadway premiere production of Paradise Square will offer rush and lottery tickets throughout its run. Performances begin at the Barrymore Theatre March 15 ahead of an April 3 opening night.

Rush tickets will be available in person at the Barrymore Theatre box office when it opens at 10 a.m. each day (except Sunday, when it opens at noon). A limited number of $32 tickets will be available each performance day for that afternoon or evening's show. Each person can purchase up to two tickets, and seating locations are subject to availability.

Paradise Square will also host a digital lottery for $32 tickets. Entrants can enter the lottery the day before their chosen performance. At 3 p.m. the day before the performance, winners will be notified and may purchase up to two tickets.

Paradise Square takes place in the Five Points neighborhood of Manhattan in 1863, when Irish immigrants and free Blacks lived together in harmony and drank, debated, and danced at the titular tavern. But when the 1863 draft arrives and excludes Black people from serving, the tavern becomes a site for the groups to clash over differing ideas of what America should be.

The musical, which played in Chicago before transferring to Broadway, has a book by Christina Anderson, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan; music by Jason Howland; lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Masi Asare; and additional music by Kirwan, inspired partly by the songs of Stephen Foster. Moisés Kaufman directs, and Bill T. Jones choreographs.
