‘The Phantom of the Opera’ sets October reopening date at Majestic Theatre
The longest-running Broadway musical continues its record-breaking run.
Following the news that Broadway theatres can reopen at full capacity from Sept. 14, 2021, productions are beginning to confirm when they'll resume performances. The Phantom of the Opera will return to the Majestic Theatre from Oct. 22, 2021, continuing its run as the longest-running Broadway musical of all time.
The Phantom of the Opera tickets will be on sale soon. Performance dates and a performance schedule are to be released.
The Phantom of the Opera is the first show that was shut down by the pandemic to have confirmed its reopening plans. Some productions including Chicago, Jagged Little Pill and Ain't Too Proud have rumored dates for September 2021, but have not been confirmed as of yet.
Casting for the Broadway reopening of The Phantom of the Opera is to be announced. Prior to the shutdown in March 2020, Ben Crawford played The Phantom, with Meghan Picerno as Christine and John Riddle as Raoul.
After The Phantom of the Opera opened at Her Majesty's Theatre in London in 1986, the musical transferred to Broadway's Majestic Theatre in 1989, where it's played ever since. The musical features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with songs including "The Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You".
