Sophie Thomas joined the New York Theatre Guide team in September 2018, after graduating with a BA (Hons) History degree from the University of Warwick in the UK. She's now the associate editor of London Theatre and New York Theatre Guide.
First stepping on stage at the tender age of five years old, Sophie has enjoyed everything about the theatre ever since, appearing in countless musicals. Training at Stagecoach Theatre Arts close to home and West End Kids in central London, she continued to perform in student-led productions at university, including Avenue Q as Kate Monster and performing with The Improv Musical at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
As part of her studies, Sophie studied at Northern Arizona University for a year. Even though she was a million miles away from the Great White Way, she took part in Jacks on Broadway, a celebration of New York theatre, and was the only international performer to take part.
As well as theatre, Sophie shares a keen interest in choral singing and has been a part of Luton Youth Cantores, singing at esteemed locations including the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. She has also written for student newspapers at university, as well as hosting radio shows and winning best presenter. Outside of theatre, she enjoys watching stand-up comedy and attending television show tapings.
Having loved theatre for so long, it's hard to pick one favourite show; however, she can sing the entire soundtracks to Legally Blonde, The Book of Mormon and Hamilton by heart.
