Get A Streetcar Named Desire tickets on New York Theatre Guide and see Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Normal People, Gladiator II) star in Tennessee Williams’s enduring classic. Hot off of two sold-out West End runs that garnered five-star reviews, A Streetcar Named Desire also stars Patsy Ferran (Living, God’s Own Country) and Anjana Vasan (Killing Eve, Black Mirror). The thrilling production now comes to BAM for a limited five-week run. A Streetcar Named Desire plays this February and March and tickets will be available on New York Theatre Guide soon.
See A Streetcar Named Desire off Broadway after its London bow: Mescal reprises the leading role of Stanley Kowalski in a new production from Olivier-winning director Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret). The production won three Olivier Awards, including Best Revival and Best Actor for Mescal.
One of the greatest American plays ever written, A Streetcar Named Desire takes place during a sweltering summer in New Orleans. After a string of personal losses, Blanche DuBois (Ferran) has decided to start her life anew: she will no longer be a wealthy Southern belle but instead heads to stay with her sister Stella (Vasan) and her husband (Mescal) in their unkempt home in the Big Easy.
But Blanche can only run so far from her complicated past, which sparks a steamy tension within the walls of the stifling apartment. And all the while, Stanley — played by Mescal with unique “swagger and sensitivity” (The New York Times) — craves the truths that Blanche so desperately wants to keep hidden. Soon, Blanche’s carefully constructed facade begins to crack, offering a complex picture of darker currents pulsating beneath.
The theatrical event of the season, the play is “the stuff theatrical myths are made of” (The Evening Standard). Tickets to A Streetcar Named Desire in New York will be available here soon.
