'American Buffalo’ to return to Broadway in 2022, starring Laurence Fishburne, Sam Rockwell and Darren Criss
Performances begin at the Circle in the Square Theatre in March.
Two years since an American Buffalo revival was originally scheduled to open, new dates have been set for American Buffalo. American Buffalo will begin previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre on March 22, with an opening night on April 14 and performances to July 10.
American Buffalo is a David Mamet play that follows three small-time hustlers, looking for a bigger slice of the American Dream. Greed consumes them however, and crime and business become intrinsically linked.
The American Buffalo cast remains the same as when the production was first announced. Laurence Fishburne will play Donny, with Sam Rockwell as Teach and Darren Criss as Bobby.
Neil Pepe will direct American Buffalo, with a creative team including scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau and casting by Telsey + Company.
American Buffalo premiered on Broadway in 1977, and was revived six years later, earning a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Play. The upcoming American Buffalo revival marks the first Broadway revival in over 35 years.
American Buffalo is at the Circle in the Square Theatre from March 22. Tickets to American Buffalo in New York are available soon.
