Andrea Martin, Ruthie Ann Miles, Melora Hardin to join Robert Downey Jr. in 'McNeal'

Ayad Akhtar's new play stars Downey as Jacob McNeal, a great writer and Nobel Prize in Literature contender, who is bringing out a new novel.

The full cast has been announced for Ayad Akhtar's new play McNeal, which opens at Lincoln Center Theater on 30 September. Previews begin on 5 September.

Joining the previously announced Academy Award-winner Robert Downey Jr., who will make his Broadway debut in the title role, are Brittany Bellizeare, Rafi Gavron, Melora Hardin, Andrea Martin, Ruthie Ann Miles, and Saisha Talwar.

Downey will play Jacob McNeal, a great writer and Nobel Prize in Literature contender, who is bringing out a new novel. But how will his career be impacted by an estranged son and his obsession with artificial intelligence?

McNeal will have direction by Bartlett Sher, set by Michael Yeargan and Jake Barton, costumes by Jennifer Moeller, lighting by Donald Holder, sound by Justin Ellington and Beth Lake, and projections by Jake Barton.
