Andy Karl, Samantha Dodemaide to join 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' cast

The actors will join the 10-time Tony Award-winning Broadway production, adapted from Baz Luhrmann's film, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning in January.

So ex-ci-ting! Andy Karl and Samantha Dodemaide will join the cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning January 28, 2025.

Karl is a three-time Tony Award nominee for his Broadway performances in Groundhog Day, On the Twentieth Century, and Rocky. He also won an Olivier Award for starring in Groundhog Day in London's West End. He is currently starring in the Off-Broadway musical Teeth through January 5 and will step into the role of the Duke of Monroth in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Dodemaide will make her Broadway debut in the role of Nini, a part she originated in Moulin Rouge! The Musical in Australia.

Karl and Dodemaide will respectively replace current cast members David Harris and Sophie Carmen-Jones, who play their final performance on January 26. Karl will play a limited engagement through July 20, and Harris is set to return on July 22.

The current Moulin Rouge! The Musical cast also includes John Cardoza as Christian, Solea Pfeiffer as Satine, Robert Petkoff as Harold Zidler, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, Pepe Muñoz as Santiago, and Hailee Kaleem Wright as the Satine alternate.

Adapted from Baz Luhrmann's Oscar-winning film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows the forbidden romance of writer Christian and showgirl Satine at the title Parisian nightclub. The show won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and includes dozens of pop songs spanning more than five decades.
