Mon 10 Nov 2003 "Gypsy" now booking to 10 April 2004 The musical Gypsy is now taking bookings 10 April 2004 at the Shubert Starring Bernadette Peters as Mama Rose, the show opened on 1 May 2003, following previews from 31 March 2003. It has book by Arthur Laurents, Music by Jule Styne, Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It is directed by Sam Mendes, with choreography by Jerry Mitchell & Jerome Robbins. A consummate show-biz musical suggested by the memoirs of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee � who was once just plain Louise, the awkward daughter of an unstoppable stage mother and sister to Dainty June, a child star of a minor vaudeville circuit.
