Hillary and Clinton, starring Laurie Metcalf & John Lithgow, posts early Broadway closure notice

The Broadway premiere of Hillary and Clinton will play its final performance at the Golden Theatre on June 23, 2019.

Following the early closures of King Lear and Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, producer Scott Rudin has now posted an early closure notice for the Broadway premiere of Lucas Hnath's Hillary and Clinton. The production began previews at the Golden Theatre on March 16, 2019, ahead of an official opening on April 18, and was originally scheduled to run through July 21, 2019. It will now play its final performance on June 23, 2019 and will have played a total of 37 previews and 77 regular performances.

Hillary and Clinton stars Academy Award nominee and two-time Tony Award winner Laurie Metcalf (as Hillary) and two-time Academy Award nominee and two-time Tony Award winner John Lithgow (as Bill), alongside Broadway alumni Zak Orth (as Mark Penn) and Peter Francis James (as Barack).

Synopsis: "Behind closed doors in the state of New Hampshire during the early days of 2008, a former First Lady named Hillary (Metcalf) is in a desperate bid to save her troubled campaign for President of the United States. Her husband, Bill (Lithgow), sees things one way; her campaign manager, Mark, sees things another. If any of this sounds familiar, don't be fooled; in a universe of infinite possibilities, anything that can happen, will. In Hillary and Clinton, Lucas Hnath examines the politics of marriage, gender roles, and the limitations of experience and inevitability in this profoundly timely look at an American dynasty in crisis."

The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello and also features scenic design by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Tony and Academy Award winner Ann Roth, and lighting design by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone.

Hillary and Clinton Tickets are available now for performances through June 23, 2019.
