McKowen, Joel Ebarb The story of two families, the Werles and Ekdals, one wealthy and one poor. Old Ekdal has turned his attic into a hunting preserve for wild animals. His young granddaughter Hedvig, slowly loosing her sight from a hereditary illness, takes comfort in her friendship with one of the preserve's inhabitants - a wounded duck. But Hedvig's attachment to the animal becomes dangerous with the arrival of Gregers Werle, son of the man responsible for Ekdal Family's financial ruin. Directed by Rod McLucas In his fourth collaboration with the company, Cocteau Playwright-in-Residence Rod McLucas translates and directs this Seventeenth Century French farce about a self-made man who tries to buy his way into society. McLucas's production will enjoy a fresh interpretation of Moliere's own comedie ballet, in which song and dance are woven into the spoken dialogue. Featuring an original score and songs by composer/lyricist Raphael Crystal.
