New Broadway dates announced for world premiere of ‘MJ The Musical’
Michael Jackson's hits won't be heard on Broadway until September 2021.
Following the news that all Broadway theatres will be closed until May 30, 2021 at the earliest, new dates have been announced for MJ The Musical. The musical was originally due to begin previews in March 2021, but performances will now begin at the Neil Simon Theatre in September 2021.
MJ The Musical stars Ephraim Sykes as Michael Jackson, with a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage. Although a full discography has not been disclosed, the bio-musical will feature some of Jackson's chart-topping hits including "Thriller" and "Billie Jean".
All ticketholders for MJ The Musical will be refunded at the point of purchase.
Christopher Wheeldon directs, with scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Paul Tazwell, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Gareth Owen.
MJ The Musical is now at the Neil Simon Theatre from September 2021.
