New play 'Six Characters' to premiere off Broadway
The world-premiere show, written by Phillip Howze and directed by Dustin Wills, is a production of Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 program for emerging artists.
Lincoln Center Theater will present the world premiere of the play Six Characters off Broadway this summer. Performances run at the Claire Tow Theater from July 13 to August 25, and opening night is July 29.
Written by Phillip Howze and directed by Dustin Wills, Six Characters is is about abolition, belonging, and power. It follows a group of citizens who storm a cultural center, an event that opens wounds, explodes archives, and sends wigs flying.
Howze's previous work includes the plays Frontieres Sans Frontieres and Self Portraits, and Wills is best known for his Lucille Lortel Award-winning direction of Wolf Play off Broadway in 2023.
The complete cast of Six Characters includes CG, Will Cobbs, Seven F. B. Duncombe, Claudia Logan, Julian Robertson, and Seret Scott. The creative team includes set designer Wills, costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Masha Tsimring, and sound designer Christopher Darbassie.
Six Characters is part of Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 program, dedicated to producing new works by emerging artists.
