Old Hats announces a third extension
Signature Theatre has announced a third extension for the world premiere of Old Hats, created and performed by Tony Award winners Bill Irwin and David Shiner, with music by and featuring Nellie McKay, and directed by Tina Landau. The show will now play through to 09 May 2013.
Old Hats opened at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center on 04 Mar 2013, following previews from 12 Feb 2013, and was originally scheduled to close on 31 Mar 2013.
The comedy revue opened to excellent reviews: I was howling at this show (newyorktheatreguide); Ebullient (NY Times); Uproarious comic revue (Back Stage); Entirely enjoyable (Record).
The press notes for the show reads, "Irwin reunites with fellow clown David Shiner for a new work combining their inimitable magic, slapstick, and hilarity. Using music, technology, and movement, plus other tricks up their sleeves, Irwin and Shiner create another wild and remarkable outing of theatre for a new generation of audiences."
Irwin and Shiner first collaborated together on their show 'Fool Moon,' which they performed on Broadway in 1993, 1995 and 1998. The show won the 1999 Special Tony Award for Live Theatrical Presentation.
The design team for Old Hats includes G.W. Mercier (Scenic and Costume Design), Peter Kaczorowski (Lighting Design) and John Gromada (Sound Design).

His other Broadway credits include: 'Bye Bye Birdie,' 'Waiting for Godot,' 'The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?,' 'The Regard of Flight' and 'Accidental Death of an Anarchist.'
