Roundabout Theatre Company announces fall/winter Off-Broadway season
The season includes New York premiere plays by Anna Ziegler and Harrison David Rivers.
Roundabout Theatre Company has announced two productions in its 2022-2023 season. the bandaged place by Harrison David Rivers will begin performances October 20, 2022, and The Wanderers by Anna Ziegler will premiere on January 26, 2023.
the bandaged place follows a man who turns to his daughter and grandmother for support as he tries to overcome trauma from past abuse. However, his old wounds open anew when an old lover shows up. Rivers's play was the winner of the 2018 Relentless Award for playwriting, and the Roundabout production marks Rivers's New York City debut as a playwright. Directed by David Mendizábal, the bandaged place will play Roundabout's Black Box Theatre as part of the Roundabout Underground program, which debuts new works by emerging writers.
Ziegler's The Wanderers was originally scheduled to make its New York premiere at Roundabout in 2020, but was postponed amid the pandemic. Now, the show will play the Laura Pels Theater in 2023 under the direction of Barry Edelstein. The Wanderers follows two Jewish couples who struggle to be happy with what they have: Orthodox newlyweds Esther and Schmuli, and the secular, married novelist Abe who receives an email from a movie star that puts his marriage and ambitions to the test. The play marks Ziegler's second show at Roundabout, following The Last Match in 2017.
Casting, additional creative team, and additional run dates for the bandaged place and The Wanderers have yet to be announced.
