The 25th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards
The winners of the 25th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were announced on 2 May 2010 at a ceremony co-hosted by Bryan Batt and Bebe Neuwirth at Terminal 5.
Te Kander and Ebb musical The Scottsboro Boys directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, produced by the Vineyard Theatre was named Outstanding musical. Horton Foote's The Orphans' Home Cycle, directed by Michael Wilson and produced by the Signature Theatre Company and Hartford Stage was named Best play.
The most decorated production of the evening was Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling, directed by David Cromer and produced by Lincoln Center Theatre, which received a total of five awards. This was followed by The Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, directed by Gordon Edelstein, and the Kander and Ebb musical, The Scottsboro Boys, which each gained two awards.
MCC Theater's production of Alexi Kaye Campbell's The Pride, was one of the evenings biggest disappointments, having been nominated in six categories it won in only one - Outstanding Featured Actor (Adam James), followed by The New Group's production of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke, which received four nominations but walked away empty handed.
Two special awards were presented at the ceremony:

- Outstanding Body of Work: Lincoln Center Theater

The Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were created in 1985 by the Off-Broadway League. The Lortel Awards recognize excellence Off-Broadway by honoring the invaluable contribution of artists to the theatre community.
Representatives of the Off-Broadway League, Actors' Equity Association, Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers, the Lucille Lortel Foundation in addition to theatre journalists and academics and other Off-Broadway professionals serve on the Voting Committee.
