‘The Minutes’ starring Tracy Letts to reopen on Broadway in 2022
The production will return to the Great White Way in March 2022, two years after its original opening date.
Forced to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has been announced that The Minutes will now reopen on Broadway in 2022. Performances will no longer take place at the Cort Theatre, with a new venue to be confirmed ahead of a March 2022 reopening.
"The Shubert Organization had graciously allowed us to extend past our initial announced limited engagement [of July 19] to the fall," noted the producers. They also said, "we intend to reopen the production, pending cast and theatre availability, on Broadway on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, exactly two years after our original opening date of Sunday, March 15, 2020."
The cast of The Minutes remains the same, including Tracy Letts as Mayor Superba, Armie Hammer as Mr. Peel and Jessie Mueller as Ms. Johnson. Casting is completed by Ian Barford, Blair Brown, Cliff Chamberlain, K. Todd Freeman, Danny McCarthy, Sally Murphy, Austin Pendleton and Jeff Still.
Written by Tracy Letts, The Minutes examines the inner workings of a city council meeting and what happens when ideas collide. As a newcomer asks the wrong questions, secrets are unravelled. The Minutes first began previews at the Cort Theatre on Feb. 25, 2020, with performances suspended ahead of its original opening night on Mar. 15, 2020.
The Minutes is directed by Anna D. Shapiro, with scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by Ana Kuzmanic, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design and original music by André Pluess.
The Minutes will reopen at a venue to be confirmed from Mar. 15, 2022.
