Waterfront Barge Museum

The Waterfront Museum is open for visits by groups, schools, and the general public. It hosts performances and art exhibits and features a collection of maritime and railroad artifacts relating to New York Harbor and the Lighterage Era (1860-1986). The lighterage system used a variety of barges to transfer cargo between ships all around the harbor and railyards that connected the harbor to the rest of America. The Waterfront Museum is housed on a Lehigh Valley Railroad Lighter, the Lehigh Valley No. 79.
