Andrew Garfield, Rachel Zegler, and Ariana DeBose win at 2022 Golden Globe Awards
The 79th Golden Globe Awards ceremony took place on January 9.
The winners of the 79th Golden Globe Awards were announced yesterday, January 9. Many films based on Broadway musicals were awarded Golden Globes, as well as Broadway actors.
West Side Story won three awards, including Best Motion Picture in the Comedy or Musical category. Rachel Zegler won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Maria, with Ariana DeBose winning Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for playing Anita. For tick, tick... Boom! Andrew Garield won a Golden Globe for his portrayal as Jonathan Larson.
Away from theatre related productions, Broadway stars were also celebrated in other projects. Jeremy Strong won Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series - Drama for Succession, and Encanto won Best Animated Picture, featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
