Criss Angel makes his Broadway debut in The Mindfreak Unplugged
Angel plays the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre as part of the In Residence on Broadway series through July 7, 2019.
"The Mindfreak" Criss Angel brings his own special brand of magic to the Great White Way tonight, making his Broadway debut as part of the 2019 In Residence on Broadway series at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre with a special limited engagement under the title of Criss Angel Raw - The Mindfreak Unplugged. The world-renowned illusionist is set to play 8 performances through July 7, 2019, as previously reported.
Angel previously commented: "Mindfreak started in 2001 in the heart of Times Square, the WWE basement, and now to be back home in New York with my all-new show RAW, playing in a storied Broadway theater where Doug Henning once performed, is a dream come true. RAW is a completely different show than Mindfreak in Las Vegas. It's intimate and reveals a different side of me - while of course still blowing your mind!"
Synopsis: "Criss Angel has dominated the world of magic for over a decade, but even with his incomparable success, Criss' passion is to constantly create and bring his magic revolution to fans everywhere. Criss Angel Raw - The Mindfreak Unplugged is a theatrical experience unlike any seen before; bringing Angel's famous sleight of hand street magic, mentalism, and even some of his most iconic illusions to life - all performed in an intimate, raw setting."
Angel also promises a "revolutionary closing illusion - 18 years in the making and the most spectacular ever seen on Broadway".
Criss Angel has been described as the most influential and imitated magician of the modern era and is perhaps best known for his "Mindfreak" television series on A&E Network, which has evolved to become the most successful magic television series of all time, and for his widely acclaimed Las Vegas stage show Criss Angel MINDFREAK.
Criss Angel Raw - The Mindfreak Unplugged features lighting design by Tony and Emmy Award nominee Mike Baldassari and sound design by five-time Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski and Tony Award nominee Garth Helm.
Other artists still to play residencies at the Lunt-Fontanne during the 2019 series include Dave Chappelle (July 9 to July 20) and Barry Manilow (July 26 to August 17).
In Residence on Broadway is produced by Live Nation, The Arca Group and EBG (Entertainment Benefits Group).
