'Slave Play' and 'Jagged Little Pill' lead 2020 Tony Awards nominations

Nominees for the 74th annual Tony Awards have been announced.

The nominations for the 2020 Tony Awards have been announced, ahead of the ceremony which is due to take place on an unknown date. James Monroe Iglehart hosted the event, detailing the nominees across 25 categories. 18 shows were eligible for this year's event, due to the temporary shutdown of Broadway from Mar. 12, 2020.

In the plays category, Jeremy O. Harris' Slave Play took home 12 nominations, while the Broadway transfer of The Inheritance picked up 11 nominations. For musicals, Aaron Tveit makes Tony history as the first actor to be the only person nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Jagged Little Pill, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Moulin Rouge! The Musical swept the board across all musical categories, picking up nominations for all eligible categories.
