Bel Powley completes the cast of Lobby Hero - Second Stage Theater's inaugural Broadway production at the Hayes Theater, which was purchased by 2ST in 2015. She takes on the role of Dawn and joins previously announced cast members "Captain America" star Chris Evans, making his Broadway debut as Bill, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" star Michael Cera (as Jeff), and Emmy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry (as William).
Ms. Powley is perhaps best known for her film role as Minnie in "The Diary of a Teenage Girl". On screen, she also played Princess Margaret in "A Royal Night Out" and the title role in "Carrie Pilby". She made her Broadway debut as Thomasina Coverly in the 2011 revival of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia.
Written by Academy Award winner Kenneth Lonergan and directed by Trip Cullman, previews begin on Broadway on March 1, 2018, before an official opening on March 26.
Synopsis: "What happens when emotions come in conflict with principles, and how do choices under pressure define who we really are? The lobby of a Manhattan apartment building is much more than a waiting area for four New Yorkers involved in a murder investigation. It's a testing ground for what happens when personal and professional personas find themselves at odds. A young security guard with big ambitions clashes with his stern boss, an intense rookie cop and her unpredictable partner."
The creative team behind Lobby Hero features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Darron L West.
Lobby Hero will be followed by a new production of Young Jean Lee's Straight White Men, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, which is expected to begin performances in July 2018 at the Hayes Theater. Lee will make history as the first female Asian-American playwright to ever be produced on Broadway.
