Cheap Trick's Robin Zander makes his Broadway debut in Rocktopia
The Cheap Trick frontman joins the comany of Rocktopia at the Broadway Theatre tonight.
Multi-platinum recording artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Robin Zander, lead singer of Cheap Trick, makes his Broadway debut tonight, when he joins the Broadway premiere of Rocktopia for the production's final week at the Broadway Theatre. Rocktopia ends its limited Broadway engagement on April 29, 2018.
Cheap Trick were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 thanks to a career that has spanned over forty years and has produced nineteen studio albums, featuring international hits such as "I Want You to Want Me," "Surrender," and "Dream Police."
Mr. Zander joins the Broadway company of Rob Evan, Chloe Lowery, Tony Vincent, Kimberly Nichole, and Alyson Cambridge, and follows previous guest star vocalists Pat Monahan of Train and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.
Rocktopia begans previews last night, March 20, ahead of an official opening on March 27.
Rocktopia is billed as "an explosive musical event that fuses the most iconic 20th-Century rock with world-renowned classical compositions, featuring world-class vocalists—backed by a full symphony orchestra, an electrifying rock band, and a choir performing the works of musical innovators including Journey, Mozart, Queen, Handel, U2, Tchaikovsky, Heart, Beethoven, Led Zeppelin, Copland, The Who and more."
The Rocktopia band is comprised of Grammy and Emmy Award nominated violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, guitarist Tony Bruno, pianist Henry Aronson, bass player Mat Fieldes, and drummer Alex Alexander.
Rocktopia is produced on Broadway by ROCKTOPIA Broadway LLC in association with Hughes Wall LLC.
The Broadway Theatre will then host the Broadway premiere of monster musical King Kong, which is set to begin previews on October 5, 2018, before an official opening on November 8.
Rocktopia Tickets are available now for performances through to April 29, 2018.
