Complete cast announced for Oklahoma! on Broadway
The Broadway revival of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Oklahoma! begins performances at Circle in the Square Theatre on March 19, 2019.
Complete Broadway casting has now been confirmed for the previously announced transfer of the Bard SummerScape production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, which played a sold-out run in Brooklyn's St. Ann's Warehouse from September 27 to November 11, 2018. Previews begin at the Circle in the Square Theatre on March 19, 2019, ahead of an official opening on April 7 and a limited engagement through to September 1, 2019.
With the exception of new cast member and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" star Will Brill (as Ali Hakim), the entire St. Ann's Warehouse company is set to reprise their respective roles on the Great White Way, including (in alphabetical order) Anthony Cason (as Cord Elam), Damon Daunno (as Curly McLain), James Davis (as Will Parker), Gabrielle Hamilton (as Lead Dancer), Rebecca Naomi Jones (as Laurey Williams), Will Mann (as Mike), Mallory Portnoy (as Gertie Cummings), Ali Stroker (as Ado Annie), Mitch Tebo (as Andrew Carnes), two-time Tony Award-nominee Mary Testa (as Aunt Eller), and Patrick Vaill (as Jud Fry).
Producer Eva Price commented: "I am delighted to welcome this incredible cast to Broadway. This is a group of performers rich with talent and humility. Individually, they bring incredible depth and authenticity to these iconic characters. Together, they form an ensemble that is full of humanity, spirit and inspiration."
Under the direction of Daniel Fish, this is Oklahoma! as you've never seen or heard it before, re-orchestrated and reimagined for the 21st century... seventy-five years after Rodgers & Hammerstein reinvented the American musical.
Oklahoma! features music by Richard Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II (based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs), with original dances by Agnes de Mille.
This Bard SummerScape production features orchestrations, arrangements & music supervision by Daniel Kluger, new choreography by John Heginbotham, music direction by Nathan Koci, scenic design by Laura Jellinek (based on an original concept by John Conklin), costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, sound design by Drew Levy, and projection design by Joshua Thorson.
The Bard SummerScape production of Oklahoma! garnered great acclaim in Brooklyn, heralded as "Best of the Year" and a "Critic's Pick" by The New York Times and the "#1 Theatrical Event of the Year" by TIME Magazine.
Oklahoma! Tickets are available now for performances from March 19 through to September 1, 2019.
