Drag murder mystery 'Death Drop' to premiere off Broadway
This news slays! Death Drop, a murder mystery play written and performed by drag queens, will debut off Broadway after a hit run in London's West End. Performances begin at New World Stages on June 30 ahead of a July 13 opening.
In 1991 on Tuck Island, a murder occurs at Lady von Fistenberg's celebration of Princess Diana and Prince Charles's 10th anniversary. In London, the ensemble featured a rotating lineup of RuPaul's Drag Race stars and local drag artists as the various characters.
The opening Death Drop cast off Broadway will include Drag Race's Jujubee, Willam, and Shuga Cain. Also starring are Kiki Ball-Change, Peachez Iman Cummings, Wang Newton, and Holly Stars, who wrote Death Drop based on an idea from Christopher D. Clegg.
The creative team also includes director Jesse Jones, composers Nicola and Rose Dempsey, scenic designer Justin Williams, costume designer Isobel Pellow, lighting designer Jack Weir, sound designer Beth Duke, and wig designer Florencia Melone.
