Dustin Hoffman will star in Our Town on Broadway in 2021
Hoffman will star as the Stage Manager in a production directed by Bartlett Sher.
Producer Scott Rudin will bring a new production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, starring Dustin Hoffman, to Broadway in 2021, according to Deadline. Bartlett Sher, who most recently directed Rudin's production of To Kill a Mockingbird, is on board to direct.
Hoffman will play the Stage Manager, who narrates and guides the audience through this American classic. The three-act play explores the small town of Grover's Corners over several years and uses meta-theatrical devices, such as having a stage manager character, to explore the intricacies of daily life.
Our Town will mark Hoffman's first Broadway appearance in 32 years. The Oscar winner last appeared on Broadway in The Merchant of Venice, as Shylock, in 1989, and he also starred as Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman in 1984.
An official opening date will be announced at a later time.
