Irena's Vow announces full cast


The full cast has been announced for Irena's Vow, a new play by Dan Gordon, opening at the Baruch Performing Arts Center on 22 Sep 2008, following previews from 7 Sep and running through to 2 Nov 2008.

Joining the previously announced four-time Tony Award-nominee Tovah Feldshuh are Sandi Carroll, Tracee Chimo, Steven Hauck, Scott Klavan, Peter Reznikoff, Thomas Ryan, Gene Silvers, John Stanisci and Maja Wampuszyc.

The new drama will mark Feldshuh�s first New York stage appearance since her Tony Award-nominated turn in 'Golda�s Balcony' (Broadway�s longest-running one-woman show). Michael Parva will direct.

Irena's Vow is set during the Nazi occupation of Poland, and tells the story of Irena Gut Opdyke (Tovah Feldshuh) who was forced to work as head housekeeper for a very prominent Nazi major. Over a two year period of service, Irena would be confronted with the choice to protect twelve Jewish refugees who secretly fell under her care.

The design team includes Kevin Judge (sets), Astrid Brucker (Costumes), David Castaneda (lighting) and Quentin Chiappetta (Sound).

Irena's Vow is being presented by The Directors Company in association with Power Productions & The Polish Cultural Institute, is an Invictus Theatre Company World premiere.

Tovah Feldshuh has been nominated for 4 Tony Awards: Golda's Balcony (2004), 'Lend Me a Tenor' (1989), Sarav�' (1979) and 'Yentl' (1975). Feldshuh last appeared off-Broadway in Perry Street Theatre Company's production of 'An Oak Tree' (2006). She recently starred in London�s fringe production of 'Golda�s Balcony' which played at the Shaw Theatre from 7 - 28 June 2008.
