‘Jagged Little Pill’ cast to host New York concert in December
The musical is currently for 15 Tony Awards including Best New Musical.
The cast of Jagged Little Pill will be getting back together next month for a one-off concert at Shubert Studios. Cast members including Elizabeth Stanley, as well as the Jagged Little Pill band will all perform, with the show available to livestream with streaming platform, Stellar.
Based on Alanis Morrisette's 1995 album of the same name, Jagged Little Pill follows the Healys who try to stay calm when a troubling event interferes with the typical way of life. The cast includes Elizabeth Stanley as Mary Jane, Sean Allan Krill as Steve, Celia Rose Gooding as Frankie and Derek Klena as Nick, Kathryn Gallagher as Bella, Lauren Patten as Jo and Antonio Cipriano as Phoenix.
After a world premiere in Massachusetts, Jagged Little Pill made its Broadway premiere at the Broadhurst Theatre in December 2019. In a five-star review for New York Theatre Guide, Margaret Echeverria said "It is a visceral woven tapestry of the kids we made, trauma induced memory, rape, racism, sexual identity questions... The artistry of Morissette is magnified... that raw honest desire Generation X has been afraid to feel since the '90's." Jagged Little Pill is currently nominated for 15 Tony Awards; the most of all shows eligible for this year's ceremony.
Launched in August 2020, Stellar is a streaming platform dedicated to live theatre and online events. Tickets for the Jagged Little Pill concert are available here, from November 16.
Jagged Little Pill will reopen on Broadway when live theatre performances are deemed safe to continue. Currently, all Broadway performances are suspended to May 31, 2021.
