Classic Stage Company has now announced complete casting for its upcoming Off-Broadway revival of Macbeth, which is scheduled to begin previews at CSC's Lynn F. Angelson Theater on October 10, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 27 and a limited engagement through December 15, 2019.
Joining previously announced Golden Globe nominee Corey Stoll (as Macbeth) and Nadia Bowers (as Lady Macbeth), who are also married in real life, will be two-time Tony Award nominee Mary Beth Peil (as Duncan), alongside Barzin Akhavan (as Macduff), Raffi Barsoumian (as Malcolm), N'Jameh Camara (as Lady Macduff), Erik Lochtefeld (as Banquo), Antonio Michael Woodard (as Fleance and Young Macduff), and Jade Wu (as Ross).
Mary Beth Peil was last seen on the New York stage in her Tony-nominated performance as the Dowager Empress in the Broadway premiere of Anastasia. She earned her first Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Anna Leonowens in The King and I in 1985 and her other Broadway credits include Nine, Sunday in the Park with George, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Follies, The Visit, and Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Macbeth marks her Classic Stage Company debut.
Synopsis: "A terrifyingly prophetic tale of revenge, murder, and madness, Macbeth ominously traces the fallout when the darkest side of humanity cheats its way into a position of power. Often referred to as "The Scottish Play" by superstitious theatergoers due to the purported witchcraft found within its text, Macbeth is one of Shakespeare's bloodiest, scariest, and yet, most popular tragedies."
CSC's Artistic Director John Doyle will helm and provide scenic design for the production, which kicks off the Classic Stage Company 2019-2020 season, and the creative team also features costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Solomon Weisbard, and sound design by Matt Stine.
Macbeth Tickets are available now for performances from October 10 through December 15, 2019.
