MCC Theater announces complete cast of world premiere musical The Wrong Man
The Wrong Man is scheduled to begin performances at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space on September 18, 2019.
MCC Theater has now announced complete casting for the much anticipated world premiere musical The Wrong Man, which features a book, music & lyrics by multi-platinum songwriter Ross Golan and is set to play the Newman Mills Theater within the the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space from September 18 through October 27, 2019, with an official opening scheduled for October 7.
Joining previously announced cast members Grammy and three-time Tony Award nominee nominee Joshua Henry, Ciara Renée, and Ryan Vasquez will be "American Idol" finalist Anoop Desai, Tilly Evans-Krueger, Malik Kitchen, Libby Lloyd, Amber Pickens, Kyle Robinson, Debbie Christine Tjong, and Julius Williams.
The Wrong Man marks the reunion of Hamilton's Tony Award-winning director and orchestrator: Thomas Kail and Alex Lacamoire (who also provides music supervision and vocal arrangements). The musical will also be choreographed by by two-time Emmy Award winner Travis Wall.
Synopsis: "In this singular and exciting new work, the wrong man meets the wrong woman in the wrong place at the wrong time. Set in Reno, Nevada, The Wrong Man tells the story of Duran, a man just scraping by, who is accused of a murder he says he didn't commit."
The creative team behind The Wrong Man features music direction by Taylor Peckham, scenic design by Tony Award winner Rachel Hauck, costume design by Jennifer Moeller, lighting design by Betsy Adams, and sound design by Tony Award winner Nevin Steinberg.
Ross Golan, who has written hit songs for such recording artists as Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Idina Menzel, and P!nk to name just a few, has also released a concept album of the musical via Interscope Records. An animated concept film, which he directs alongside John Hwang, also celebrated its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 27, 2019.
