Pre-Existing Condition, a new play written by Tony Award-nominated actress Marin Ireland, will premiere off Broadway at the Connelly Theater this summer. The limited eight-week engagement will run from June 7 to August 3, and opening night is June 18.

The play centers on A, who experiences a life-changing event and suddenly faces the everyday challenges and community-building that come with moving forward. A rotating cast of performers will play A throughout the run.

Emmy Award winner Tatiana Maslany will star first. The other Pre-Existing Condition cast members include Tavi Gevinson (American Horror Story), Tony winner Deirdre O’Connell (Dana H.), Julia Chan (Uncle Vanya), and Tony nominee Maria Dizzia (In the Next Room), who also directs the show.

Sarah Steele, Dael Orlandersmith, and Greg Keller complete the cast, with Raquel Chavez and Gregory Connors as understudies.

The creative team, alongside Ireland and Dizzia, includes set designer Louisa Thompson, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, sound designer Palmer Hefferan, and creative consultant Anne Kauffman, a 2024 Tony nominee for directing the Broadway play Mary Jane.

"Marin’s piece is responding to something in our culture that unfortunately still feels shameful to discuss, regardless of being part of a very public movement," Kauffman said in a statement. "The creative team is modeling community around this issue by gathering a company of actors who will share the role of A as colleagues and compatriots taking care of one another."

The show's producers include Jesse Eisenberg, Charlie Kaufman, OHenry Productions, The Cohn Sisters, Jessica Chase, and Taylor Williams.
