Roundabout Theatre Company announce fall dates, including ‘Caroline, or Change’ and ‘Birthday Candles’
The season will begin in October.
With the news that Broadway theatres can reopen at full capacity from September 14, upcoming dates for Roundabout Theatre Company's productions have been announced. The company's Broadway season will begin from early October, with productions scheduled through to fall 2022.
Caroline, or Change starring Sharon D. Clarke will finally open at Studio 54 this fall, previously suspended due to the pandemic. Previews begin on October 7, ahead of an opening night on October 27. In a review of the London production, "it is naturally and peerlessly dominated by an extraordinarily fierce and contained performance from Sharon D Clarke in the title role... she has emerged as one of our very finest stage actors; this production puts a seal on her bid for stardom."
The Broadway premiere of Alice Childress' Trouble in Mind will also run this fall. Previews begin at the American Airlines Theatre from October 29, ahead of an opening night on November 10.
Debra Messing will also return to Broadway this season, starring in the New York premiere of Noah Haidle's Birthday Candles. Previews begin at the American Airlines Theatre on March 18, 2022, ahead of an opening night on April 10, 2022.
1776 will then be revived at the American Airlines Theatre in fall 2022, with dates to be confirmed.
Off-Broadway, the world premiere of Mansa Ra's ...what the end will be will run at the Laura Pels Theatre from April 2022. Anna Ziegler's The Wanderers will also open at the Laura Pels Theatre, with performances from July 2022.
Dave Harris' Exception to the Rule will also open off-Broadway this season, with performances at the Black Box Theatre from April 2022.
