Roundabout Theatre Company announces 2019-2020 off-Broadway season

Roundabout presents Hilary Bettis' 72 Miles to Go..., Jiréh Breon Holder's ...what the end will be, and Daniel Zaitchik's Darling Grenadine.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced three new productions as part of its 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season at the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. Each of the productions will be receiving their respective world premieres.

At the Laura Pels Theatre, Roundabout presents 72 Miles to Go... with a scheduled run for winter 2020. The production will mark the debut play for Hillary Bettis, which focuses on the 72 miles between Tucson, Arizona and Nogales, Mexico, as a Mexican mother is split from her American-born husband and children.

In spring 2020, Roundabout will then present the world premiere of ...what the end will be, written by Jiréh Breon Holder. The story tells of three generations of men who live together, as they explore what it means to be black and gay. Commissioned by Roundabout Theatre Company, the play will look at pride, pain and patience through fathers and sons, and will be directed by Margot Bordelon.

Finally, Roundabout Underground presents its first new musical in a decade with Darling Grenadine, set to stage its world premiere at the Black Box Theatre in winter 2020. The show will follow songwriter Harry and chorus girl Louise as they begin to fall in love in Manhattan, but explores what happens when the new love fades away. The musical features a book, music and lyrics by Daniel Zaitchik, with direction and choreography by Michael Berresse.

The 2018-2019 off-Broadway season at the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre continues with Merrily We Roll Along, starring Brittany Bradford and Manu Narayan. This is followed by Toni Stone (starring Uzo Aduba) and Something Clean (starring Kathryn Erbe).
