Fans of these pop icons can hear their favorite songs set to different stories.

Their music is so nice, it's on Broadway twice, and in some cases, thrice. Jukebox musicals, which are set to existing pop music rather than original showtunes, are perfect for audiences looking to hear tunes they know and love, but in a whole new light — or a few — as they're used to tell different stories.

Some music legends, like Elton John and Celine Dion, have proven just how versatile their music is for storytelling. These artists and more are featured in multiple jukebox musicals with vastly different plots and themes.

If you can't get enough of these pop stars, get your next few theatre outings lined up by seeing all the shows their music is featured in.

Elton John: Moulin Rouge! The Musical and The Lion King

His gift is his song, and you can experience it in three shows on Broadway. Fans of the cult classic 2000s movie Moulin Rouge! know Elton John's "Your Song" is one of that film's best-known numbers. When the film became a stage musical, of course the song was included.

And miles from France and America (that is, a couple blocks away in the Theatre District), the African Pridelands come alive with his tunes at The Lion King. John wrote songs like "Circle of Life" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" specifically for the movie and the stage show, but they've become iconic pop hits in their own right, too.

In fall 2022, John had three musicals on Broadway at once, when Almost Famous, the musical adaptation of Cameron Crowe's Oscar-winning film featuring "Tiny Dancer," was playing. He did it again twice in 2023: When a character in the slapstick comedy play Peter Pan Goes Wrong sang a snippet of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," and when John got name-dropped more than once in Gutenberg! The Musical! Those were brief features, but we say it counts — especially because he's about to have another trifecta with Tammy Faye in fall 2024. How wonderful theatre is when John's in the world!

Britney Spears: & Juliet and Moulin Rouge! The Musical

1, 2, 3, everybody loves Britney! Britney Spears is featured prominently in & Juliet, a Romeo & Juliet sequel that includes five of her songs. The Shakespearean heroine sings tunes like "Stronger" and "Oops!...I Did It Again" as she, instead of dying, ventures to Paris to see what post-Romeo life has in store.

You'll have to listen a bit more closely for Spears in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, as she's only featured once: "Toxic" blends with other tunes in the sultry Act 2 medley "Backstage Romance." Luckily, you can go to & Juliet to hear her music, baby, one more time.

In spring 2023, Spears fans experienced her music on stage in three Broadway shows. Once Upon a One More Time used the Princess of Pop's hits as anthems for fairytale princesses writing their own happily ever afters.

Celine Dion: & Juliet and Titanique

Her heart will go on, and so will her music. You'll have to wait a while for it in & Juliet, but it's worth it — her hit "That's The Way It Is" becomes a powerful 11 o'clock number sung by Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway.

Those in the mood for a boatload of Dion music, though, will find it off Broadway at Titanique. All her hit songs — "My Heart Will Go On," "Tell Him," and even her holiday ballad "The Prayer" — are the basis of this parody show that spoofs James Cameron's Titanic film. Dion herself is even a character, narrating how the story of Jack and Rose really happened.

P!nk and Katy Perry: & Juliet and Moulin Rouge! The Musical

These two pop powerhouses both feature in & Juliet and Moulin Rouge! The Musical. P!nk's party anthem "Raise Your Glass" gets everyone on the dance floor at the Moulin Rouge, and her motivational "Fuckin' Perfect" gives Juliet a heartfelt confidence boost in & Juliet.

Perry gets a few features in & Juliet: "I Kissed a Girl" and "Teenage Dream" underscore scenes of budding romance, and Juliet declares her independence with a roof-shaking rendition of "Roar." In contrast, Perry's only included once in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, but that single number is a memorable one. You might not think of "Firework" as a tearjerking ballad, but you might think differently after hearing Satine's solo.

Other pop stars in Broadway musicals

These artists are just a few of the pop stars with music on Broadway right now. Iconic singer/songwriters Michael Jackson and Neil Diamond each have a musical dedicated to them. & Juliet features plenty more modern hitmakers like The Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi, and Kelly Clarkson, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical includes songs by multiple decades' worth of famous musicians, from Nat King Cole to Tina Turner to Lady Gaga.
