The Lucille Lortel 2013 Award winners



28th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were announced at the NYU Skirball Center on 05 May 2013, at a ceremony hosted by Maura Tierney and Aasif Mandvi.

The musical Dogfight, featuring music and lyrics byBenj Pasek and Justin Paul, book by Peter Duchan, and direction by Joe Mantello was named Outstanding musical.

Samuel D. Hunter's The Whale, directed by Davis McCallum and produced by Playwrights Horizons was named Outstanding play.

The evenings biggest disappointment was the musical Murder Ballad, which although it was nominated in five categories, walked away empty handed.

Four special awards where presented at the ceremony:

  • Outstanding Body of Work Award: Theatre Development Fund
