Chicago: Husband-and-wife actors Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna extend their summer engagement by one week


Husband-and-wife actors Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna extends their stay in the Broadway musical Chicago by one week. The couple will continue in the roles of Billy Flynn and Roxie Hart, respectively, through to 5 Aug 2007.

Hamlin and Rinna joined the musical on 19 Jun 2007, when Hamlin assumed the role of Billy Flynn from Joey Lawrence, and Lisa Rinna assumed the role of Roxie from Bianca Marroquin.

Hamlin last appeared on Broadway playing John Buchanan, Jr. in Summer and Smoke (1996 revival), he made his Broadway debut as Moe Axelrod in Awake and Sing! (1984). He is famous to many for playing the character Michael Kuzak in the first five series of NBC's TV show L.A. Law.

Rinna is making her Broadway debut in Chicago, prior to her Broadway appearance she played the role of Roxie Hart in the national tour production of the musical. Rinna's TV work includes playing Taylor McBride in the Fox TV soap Melrose Place and Billie Holliday Reed in NBC soap 'Days of our Lives.'

In other casting news, Rob Bartlett, who plays Amos Hart, will continue with the show through to 27 Jan 2008.

Chicago also features Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Roz Ryan as Matron 'Mama' Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

Further cating news can be expected to be announced shortly, as Brenda Braxton and Roz Ryan, are currently only scheduled to remain with the show through to 29 Jul 2007.

Chicago has been playing on Broadway since 14 Nov 1996, it moved to the Ambassador Theatre on the 29 Jan 2003 where it is currently booking to 23 Dec 2007.

Chicago has music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, Book by Bob Fosse & Fred Ebb.

Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defense and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public. Featuring well known songs, 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Mr. Cellophane'.

The musical is directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by Ann Reinking, scene design by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Scott Lehrer.
