Did you go to training school, if so which one?
I attended a very cool performing arts program at Tri-Cities high school. I also spent several thrilling years in a youth theater company doing shows all around town!
As an actor, do you have a preference for stage, TV or film?
They each have their pros and cons! I enjoy them both, though film sets can be boring and exciting in a day!
Career highlight to date?
Being in Fela! On Broadway has definitely been a career highlight! The music is great!
What roles would you most like to play?
I love historical figures, real women who have lead positive or controversial lives. Celia Cruz, Zora Neale Hursten, or Michelle Obama would be fun.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
In instances of unpleasant reactions or situations, Oftentimes its not you its the other person.
What has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?
Hmmm I don't know ?????
What is the most annoying part about your job?
In theater, changing clothes in front of people and having your haircut, personal creativity be dictated by a role for several years in a row.
Briefly tell us how you become involved with Fela!?
I had some of the toughest most competitive auditions ever over a 2 week period last summer.
Briefly tell us about the character you play in Fela?
I play Sandra Izsidore a real life woman whose influence on the life and music of Fela Kuti was immeasurable. She introduced him to the passion of black politics and a deeper interest in the African diaspora.
If you had not become a performer, what might you have done instead?
I'd be a writer, producer, director... But hey that's still to come.
Who are your favorite actors/actresses?
Lately, Edie Falco.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would you say to them?
It'd be my dad, I'd enjoy hanging out with him.
Favorite after-show haunts?
I tend to go where ever the cast goes, restaurants near by. Though having people over to my place would be nice.
What was the last book you read?
On Becoming Fearless by Arriana Huffington has been in my purse lately.
What was the last film you saw, and name some of your favorite movies?
The Book of Eli was the last film I saw, I enjoy all type of films from epic adventures to quiet documentaries.
Favorite holiday destinations?
Anywhere that's sunny and easy to get to and around!
Do you have any hobbies?
Occasionally African hair braiding.
Do you have any superstitions?
Sometimes I do, other times I ignore them.
What are your future plans?
Wow, I have no idea what the future holds but throw a family in the mix and whatever else comes, I pray its good!
