Tom Hiddleston is set to make his Broadway debut in Betrayal opposite Charlie Cox & Zawe Ashton
The smash hit London production begins performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on August 14, 2019.
Golden Globe and Olivier Award winner Tom Hiddleston will officially make his Broadway debut this August, as the critically acclaimed London production of Betrayal transfers to the Great White Way. The strictly limited 17-week engagement, once again directed by Olivier Award winner Jamie Lloyd, begins previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on August 14, 2019, ahead of an official opening on September 5.
Hiddleston, who reprises the role of Robert, will be joined on stage by his West End co-stars Charlie Cox (as Jerry) and Zawe Ashton (as Emma), alongside Eddie Arnold (as the Waiter).
Synopsis: "With poetic precision, rich humor, and an extraordinary emotional force, Betrayal charts a compelling seven-year romance, thrillingly captured in reverse chronological order, and explores the complexities of the human heart."
The London production played an extended, sold-out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from March 5 through June 8, 2019, and broke all box office records. Read our 5* review by Mark Shenton on our London Theatre Guide sister site here.
Directed Jamie Lloyd commented: "Watching this remarkable cast bring new life to Harold Pinter's greatest work has been one of the most gratifying and exciting experiences of my life in the theater. I am thrilled that American audiences will have the chance to witness their stunning performances."
The Broadway creative team also features scenic & costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting design by Jon Clark, and sound design & original music by Ben and Max Ringham.
Tom Hiddleston's other London stage credits include The Changeling, Cymbeline, Othello, Ivanov, The Children's Monologues, The Kingdom of Earth, Coriolanus, and Hamlet. He is perhaps best known for his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Daredevil and as Owen Sleater on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."
