Stephanie Mills

Stephanie Mills stars as Hermes in Hadestown on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre beginning July 2, 2024.

Mills is best known for originating the role of Dorothy in The Wiz on Broadway in 1974 and reprising the role in the musical's 1984 revival. She later played Aunt Em in The Wiz Live! on NBC in 2015.

Her other stage credits include her Broadway-debut production, 1968's Maggie Flynn, and an eight-performance theatrical concert, Stephanie Mills Comes "Home" to Broadway, in 1989.

Mills is also a Grammy Award-winning R&B musician, winning for the song "Never Knew Love Like This Before." Her other hits include "Home" (from The Wiz), "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love," "I Feel Good All Over," "(You're Puttin') A Rush on Me," and "Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel)."
