Will Chase stars as Sir Harry in Once Upon a Mattress on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre from July 31 to November 30, 2024.
Will Chase was born on September 12, 1970 in Frankfort, Kentucky. He is a Tony-nominated actor who is also known for his TV roles as country singer Luke Wheeler on Nashville and as Michael Swift on Smash.
As a child he attended Western Hills High School and went on to study conducting and percussion at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Chase started his professional career in Chicago, appearing in various regional productions until he landed the role of Chris in the second national tour of Miss Saigon in 1996. This led to his Broadway debut, reprising the role in the Miss Saigon Broadway company from July 1998. He would return to the production for its final month of performances in January 2001. Chase became a regular on the Broadway stage, racking up credits which included the roles of Jerry Lukowski in The Full Monty (2001-2002), Radames in Aida (2003-2004), Lennon (2005), Roger Davis in Rent (2005-2006 and 2008), Rob in High Fidelity (2006), Thomas Weaver in The Story of My Life (2009), Tony in Billy Elliot: The Musical (2009-2011), and Jimmy Winter in Nice Work If You Can Get It (2012).
In 2012, Chase starred in the dual roles of John Jasper and Mr. Clive Paget in the Broadway revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood and would go on to earn his first Tony Award nomination at the 2013 ceremony. He then appeared on the Broadway stage as William Shakespeare in the musical comedy Something Rotten! from July to October 2016.
Chase made his feature film debut in the 2000 movie Shaft and went on to secure recurring roles in such TV series as Rescue Me, One Life to Live, The Good Wife, Time After Time, American Crime Story, Quantico, Sharp Objects, and Stranger Things.
Chase returned to Broadway to take on the dual roles of Fred Graham and Petruchio in Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Kiss Me, Kate! at Studio 54 from February 14 through June 30, 2019.
