BroadwayCon to go virtual in April 2021
The theatrical convention will mark its sixth anniversary.
UPDATE: On January 26, BroadwayCon Meet and Greets were announced, allowing audiences to interact with Broadway stars. Performers taking part so far include Andrew Barth Feldman, Alex Brightman, Jenn Colella, Justin Guarini, Ilana Levine, Patti Murin, Ryann Redmond, James Snyder, Nik Walker, and Fredi Walker-Browne.
Unlike previous years of BroadwayCon, it's been confirmed that BroadwayCon 2021 will be held online in its entirety. Dates for the 2021 event have also been announced, taking place over two days from April 17-18, 2021.
"We all miss Broadway so much, which is why now, more than ever, it feels important to come together as a community," said BroadwayCon co-creator Anthony Rapp. "BroadwayCon has always been about the deep love we have for the magic of theatre, and that will be even more special this year."
BroadwayCon is a theatre-based convention, where fans, creatives and casts can all meet one another. In previous years, cast reunions of Rent and In The Heights have taken place, as well as previews of upcoming musicals and surprise appearances from Sara Bareilles, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Kristin Chenoweth.
A special range of meet and greets have also been confirmed by BroadwayCon. Beginning in the New Year and continuing through to this year's BroadwayCon weekend, members of the public will be able to meet their favorite stars virtually.
The line-up of guests and performances for BroadwayCon 2021 is to be announced. Those attending BroadwayCon 2020 included Kelli O'Hara, Danny Burstein and Aaron Tveit and Eva Noblezada.
BroadwayCon 2021 tickets go on sale from Dec. 9, 2020. Returning attendees able to purchase tickets on Dec. 8, 2020. More information on tickets can be found here.
