‘Come From Away’ film to be released on Apple TV+ on September 10
The production was filmed at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
Following the news that a live taping of the Come From Away musical was in the works, a release date for the Come From Away film has been confirmed. Come From Away, which was filmed at its Broadway theatre, the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, will debut on September 10 on Apple TV+.
The Come From Away film will star members of the original cast including the Tony Award-nominated actress Jenn Colella as Beverley Bass, Petrina Bromley as Bonnie, Joel Hatch plays Claude, Caesar Samayoa as Kevin J., Q. Smith as Hannah, Astrid Van Wieren as Beulah, Sharon Wheatley as Diane and Tony LePage as Kevin T. The cast is completed by De'Lon Grant as Bob, Emily Walton as Janice, Jim Walton as Nick, and Paul Whitty as Oz.
Come From Away will be released on Apple TV+ in line with the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Come From Away is set immediately after September 11, 2001, dramatising the lives of 7,000 passengers and air crew forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland and creating a worldwide community.
Come From Away opened on Broadway in 2017 and was nominated for seven Tony Awards including best musical. In a review for New York Theatre Guide, Tulis McCall said "no one will leave untouched by this show. The spirit that is on that stage sweeps past the footlights and scoops everyone in the audience up into its arms."
Christopher Ashley directs the film presentation of Come From Away, also featuring scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Howell Binkley and sound design by Gareth Owen.
