It has been reported that The Nanny is being adapted into a Broadway musical.
UPDATE: In an interview on The View on June 10, 2021, Fran Drescher confirmed a Broadway musical based on The Nanny is almost set to launch. Drescher said, "It's been very sad to see New York without the theater community, which is really such a pulse for the city, and I'm very, very thrilled we're coming out the other side and that theater is coming back and we'll be almost ready to launch The Nanny musical on Broadway as well."
It has been reported that The Nanny is being adapted into a Broadway musical. The production is based on the 1990s American sitcom of the same name, which followed a fashionable Jewish woman named Fran Fine who finds herself as the nanny of three children from the New York and British high societies.
On The Kelly Clarkson Show on December 8, Fran Drescher spoke about The Nanny. The character Max Sheffield, a Broadway producer, will have a greater focus in the musical adaptation.
The musical will feature a book by original series creators Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson, with lyrics by Rachel Bloom and music by Bloom and Adam Schlesinger. Bloom and Schlesinger are Emmy Award-winning musicians and lyricists, for their original music and lyrics for The CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. The Nanny will be produced by Brian Zeilinger and Scott Zeilinger.
A production timeline for the Broadway premiere, as well as casting, creative team members and a venue will be announced at a later date.
