Manhattan Theatre Club announces spring 2021 virtual programming

MTC Virtual Theatre includes revived productions as well as new short plays.

Although Manhattan Theatre Club have confirmed in-person performances for as far away as winter 2022, this interim period is full of virtual offerings. They've announced the next line up of online shows, including a series of new productions and revivals.

Four new works will be presented as part of MTC Snapshots Series. Starting in February, each production is inspired by the state of theatre worldwide, created exclusively for digital streaming. These include:

Ritual: Alexis Scheer's production will encourage audiences to manifest a positive future, culminating in a casting of energy at 2:06pm on February 6. Gabrielle Carrubba, Octavia Chavez-Richmond, Shirley Chen, Ari Groover and Samantha Williams will all star, premiering from February 1 - 6.

Please Welcome Our Guest: Trish Harnetiaux directs Liza Birkenmeier in this on-stage personality test, inviting audiences to get a better understanding of themselves.

A Glimpse Behind the Curtain: Get an insight into Camille A. Brown's creative workings, as she prepares for a revival of Ain't Misbehavin. Juel D. Lane will feature, with original music by Daryl Waters.

Untitled Vampire Cowboys Project: Robert Ross Parker directs Qui Nguyen's pop culture show, focusing on seventeenth century artist Julie D'Aubigny.

MTC'S Curtain Call Series will also commence from February, celebrating past productions in Manhattan Theatre Club's history. The series includes:

The Past is the Past: Originally premiering in 1975, Richard Wesley's drama tells of two men who form a deep of connection while playing pool. Jovan Adepo and Ron Cephas Jones will star, directed by Oz Scott. 

Three Days of Rain: Patricia Clarkson, John Slattery and Bradley Whitford will reprise their 1997 performances in Richard Greenberg's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play. They'll play siblings and a childhood friend who are transported to 1960s America via a diary.

Neat: Charlayne Woodard stars in her own 1997 autobiographical play, sharing anecdotes about a woman coming of age.

Beauty of the Father: Nilo Cruz' play follows an American girl who travels to Spain to meet her estranged father. The original cast starred Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal.
