Matthew Morrison to star in The Grinch musical to be broadcast from London
It's the first NBC musical to be filmed away from the United States.
Just because theatres are shut, we can still expect a sprinkling of festive cheer! Continuing NBC's annual tradition of live musical performances, this year is no different. Matthew Morrison will play The Grinch in Dr Seuss' The Grinch Musical, which will be broadcast on December 9, live from the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in London.

Morrison will be going green, leading the cast of Dr Seuss' The Grinch Musical. The Tony Award-nominated actor was last seen on stage as J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland. He's perhaps best known for playing Will Schuester in Glee.
Other cast members include Booboo Stewart as young Max, Denis O'Hare as adult Max and Amelia Minto as Cindy-Lou Who. They'll be joined by an ensemble of London based actors, made up of Ako Mitchell, Amy Ellen Richardson, Claire Machin, Gary Wilmot, Joseph Prouse, Lisa Mathieson, Billy Nevers, Gevenieve Nicole, Bobbie Little, Callum Train, Kirsty Ingram, Idriss Kargbo, Rebecca Louis, Joe Allen, Francesca Mills, Kanon Narumi, Chantelle Tonoleti, Tafari Edwards, Alfie Murray, Erin Rushidi, Bebe Massey, Kayleen Nguema, Lyla Toplass and Louie Gray.
Dr Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas made its Broadway debut in 2006, and was the first musical to stage 12 performances a week. The original cast starred Patrick Page as The Grinch, who also reprised the role in 2007.
The musical features a book and lyrics by Tim Mason and music by Mel Marvin. Julia Knowles directs the TV special, with additional script material by Simon Nye and scenic design by Peter Bingemann.
Dr Seuss' The Grinch Musical will be broadcast live from the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in London, which opened in 2019. Rehearsals are currently underway, ahead of the broadcast on December 9.
Dr Seuss' The Grinch Musical is the latest in a series of NBC's commitment to staging live musicals. Previous years have seen shows like Jesus Christ Superstar, Hairspray and The Wiz all seen on screen.
