New details announced for the 2020 Tony Awards ceremony, including location and more
The Tony Awards will take place on September 26.
Ahead of next month's 2020 Tony Awards, details for a Broadway location to host the ceremony have been revealed. The 74th Annual Tony Awards will take place at the Winter Garden Theatre on September 26, and will be hosted by Audra McDonald.
This will mark the second time a Tony Awards ceremony has been held at the Winter Garden Theatre, which previously held the 1975 Tony Awards.
Even though the Tony Awards will take place at the Winter Gardfen Theatre, an industry viewing party will take place at the Broadway Theatre.
The 2020 Tony Awards will be broadcast 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT live from the Winter Garden Theatre exclusively on Paramount+. After the ceremony, The Tony Awards Present: Broadway's Back concert will then be available to watch on Paramount+, as well as the CBS television network and app. During the concert, there will be performances from Tina the Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Jagged Little Pill, as well as the live presentations of three awards: best play, best revival of a play and best musical. Leslie Odom Jr. will host The Tony Awards Present: Broadway's Back.
18 shows were eligible for the 2020 Tony Awards, made up of 10 original plays, four original musicals and four play revivals. Jagged Little Pill was the most nominated show, with 15 nods, while Slave Play picked up 12 nominations. Read the full Tony Awards nominations here.
