Red Bull Theater to host ‘The Belle’s Stratagem’ online reading

A charity reading of Hannah Cowley's The Belle's Stratagem will be hosted by Red Bull Theater. Lilli Cooper and Santino Fontana will take part in the one-off event, available to watch from February 22 - 26.

The 18th century British romantic play sees Letitia fearing an entrapment into a loveless marriage. With the help of elders, Letitia tries to attract her fiance, enjoying the conspiring that leads to joyous resolutions.

Lilli Cooper and Santino Fontana will reunite for the reading, previously starring together in the Broadway premiere of Tootsie. The reading will also star Cecil Baldwin, Jasmine Batchelor, Mark Bedard, Neal Bledsoe, Peter Jay Fernandez, Tony Jenkins, Aaron Krohn, Heather Alicia Simms and Chauncy Thomas.

The Belle's Stratagem received its New York premiere in 2003, performed by Prospect Theater Company.

The online reading of The Belle's Stratagem will premiere on February 22, and then available to watch until February 26. More information can be found here.
