Sean Astin

Sean Astin makes his Broadway debut as Santa in Elf The Musical on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre from November 9, 2024, to January 4, 2025.

Astin has had a prolific career on film and television since the 1980s. He is best known for his roles as Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Mikey Walsh in The Goonies, the title character of Rudy, Doug Whitmore in 50 First Dates, and Bob Newby on Stranger Things.

Collectively with his fellow cast members, Astin has been nominated for four Screen Actors Guild Awards for Lord of the Rings and Stranger Things, winning in 2003 for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Additionally, he earned an Academy Award nomination for directing and producing the short film Kangaroo Court.
