Broadway’s Best Shows streaming series to star Morgan Freeman, Patti LuPone, and more
The season will include play readings by Broadway's leading performers.
Broadway's Best Shows has announced new digital season of work, continuing its popular Spotlight on Plays series this fall. The season will include seven star-studded readings of celebrated plays over the next three months. Tickets are exclusively available now on TodayTix at a "Pay What You Can" rate, with all proceeds from ticket sales being donated to The Actors Fund.
The Spotlight on Plays season will run October 14-December 17, including breaks for the election and Thanksgiving.
Productions to be staged/read as part of the Spotlight on Plays season include:
- The Best Man by Gore Vidal, starring Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Zachary Quinto, Phylicia Rashad, Vanessa Williams, Reed Birney, Stacy Keach, Simon Jones, and Robert Sella. Directed by Michael Wilson. (October 14)
- This Is Our Youth by Kenneth Lonergan, starring Lucas Hedges, Paul Mescal, and Grace Van Patten. Directed by Lila Neugebauer. (October 20)
- Race by David Mamet, starring David Alan Grier, Ed O'Neill, Richard Thomas, and Alicia Stith. Directed by Phylicia Rashad. (October 29)
- Boston Marriage by David Mamet, starring Patti LuPone, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Sophia Macy. Directed by David Mamet. (November 12)
- Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Neil LaBute starring Ellen Burstyn, Alan Cumming, Samira Wiley, Constance Wu, Anson Mount, Manik Chokski, K. Todd Freeman, Mia Katigbak, and Gabe Ebert. Directed by Danya Taymor.(November 19)
- The 10th anniversary performance of Time Stands Still by David Marguiles, starring Eric Bogosian, Brian D'Arcy James, Laura Linney, and Alicia Silverstone. Directed by Daniel Sullivan. (December 3)
- Barbecue by Robert O'Hara, starring Carrie Coon, Colman Domingo, Kimberly Hebert, Annie McNamara, S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurie Metcalf, David Morse, Kristine Nielson, Amberla Perry, and Heather Simms. Directed by Robert O'Hara. (December 10)
The upcoming season will be performed in order to raise money for The Actor's Fund. Broadway's Best Shows is a joint partnership between Jeffrey Richards, Jacob Porter, and Jim Glaub.
